the nursery [in my house]

Hello! I know it's been quite a while since my last post but I've been very busy with our little one (who is now 6 months old) as well as work and other day to day commitments.

I'm loving dressing up my little girl in cute outfits and decorating her space. Her crib and change table share a room with my office so whilst it's not ideal we all make do for now. I've tried to make the nursery area really fun and special. So here's a sneak peek!

I'm a fan of color but oddly enough the color scheme for the nursery doesn't contain green. I really liked the crib sheet (and there's a matching blanket but it's too hot for that now) so it all kind of went from there. (The toys were gifts.) I picked up the pom pom garland in Australia on a whim because that's what happens when you travel!

curing monday

How to beat a case of the Monday's? Take a break from work for swim, sun and relaxing! This is what I did last Monday and plan to do this as often as I can over the summer. Nice.

Image take using Instagram on my iPhone. Love these colours!

spring color

I don't often do fashion posts but I was a bit inspired by all the bright colors in the stores currently. It makes me happy! So it's time to brighten up the wardrobe for Spring.

You know that old saying "Blue and green should not be seen without a color in between"? Well, I'm going for it with blues, greens (of course) and plenty of color in between.

(Only a couple of these items came home with me! The others are similar to things I already have OR are on the wish list for later, particularly the something that's emerald green...)

weekend snapshots

This weekend was a nice one. Time with family and friends. A fun lunch at our place with lots of food. Classic movie night (we saw His Girl Friday). Quality time with the toddler nephew and new baby niece. Lots of scary driving in the rain! Computer fixing by my husband at a relative while I looked at original record covers with great design and type. A glimpse of sun! Some relaxing. More relaxing. You know how it goes!

All photos from my iPhone using Instagram - you can view my picture feed here on your computer, no phone needed!

pinned & purty

I was just browsing through Pinterest and noticed the new profile design which looks pretty with all the bright colored pins! Just wanted to share. Go on, follow my boards!

miaow.

When you move countries there's a lot that you have to leave behind, family, friends, places and sometimes, pets. I miss my kitty! He was getting on in (cat) years and we left him in good hands when we moved but I miss having that furry little guy around the place, best listener (didn't talk back!) and great cuddles. (I choose to ignore the amount of fur on everything and the occasional scratch.) The cat acquired us but then became part of the family. My husband prefers dogs so we will probably find one to suit us down the track.

unseasonal...

Or is it? Having not lived in America that long, this Aussie still thinks of January as sun, surf and sand time! Hot days, warm nights and some serious relaxing over the summer vacation. But that's southern hemisphere and I'm now in the north. Which means winter. Except winter in Southern California is pretty nice! The weather last week was gorgeous and warm. Not wintery at all! So I made the most of it and went to the beach for a long stroll. (Relatives and friends in colder climates are welcome to visit us!)

These are some pictures I took using instagram.

I'm back from my trip to visit family. More pictures coming soon once I catch up on my work and things around the house which include rearranging some furniture which we got today. It's all happening here!

a reminder

Sometimes there's just to much to do or to much think about that I forget to relax! Not so healthy. So this post is a reminder to take a moment, step back from whatever you are doing, breathe deeply and get rid of the stress. Appreciate the little things. Schedule a time for something that you enjoy!

On that note, time to take a break from sitting at my computer all afternoon - it's baking time!

(These images were taken at San Simeon on our trip last August. Featuring one of my many pairs of flip-flops!)

tweet, tweet. pin, pin.

My second time round trying out twitter - much more productive and fun than the first! Sharing interesting design snippets and other fun things! Follow @SarahLikesGreen

To see what's inspiring me lately, check out pinterest and follow my boards. It's super fun and a bit addictive! Sensory overload much?

My work is keeping me kinda busy - book design, html emails, websites and some illustration. I kind of miss doing print work such as invitations and packaging and stationery but time goes on, locations and clients change. Materials for personal projects are still sitting here on my desk waiting until I have time to get started plus a stack of photos from a trip earlier this year have a number that are blog-worthy! Hello!

Welcome to my new Sarah's View blog - a place where I can share my latest personal projects, photography, inspiration and all things design related that I like. All the stuff that doesn't quite fit on my professional site!

My old blog became sorely neglected about two years ago due to moving house, travel and then getting engaged and married. I originally started that blog because I needed a creative outlet. From there I discovered a whole community of bloggers and conversation out there which made the experience richer and more fulfilling, particularly for a freelance designer like myself. Working from home can be a bit quiet! So I'm looking forward to seeing what this new blog will bring in terms of connecting with other designers (and blogger friends) out there.

For the start, I'm still tinkering with the template design and posting will be somewhat irregular as I attempt to fit blogging back into my schedule. I do hope to introduce regular categories alongside my general posting. I am very excited about some projects in the pipeline. So please subscribe and keep up to date with the latest. See you back here soon!
